The Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), an Institute of National Importance, has announced the 2024 admission schedule and is now accepting applications for its entrance exam (ISI-Stat-Math). This is for 3 very premium courses in Statistics / Data Science / Mathematics as listed below:

Courses offered

(a) 3-Year Bachelor of Statistics (Hons) at Kolkata

(b) 3-Year Bachelor of Mathematics (Hons) at Bengaluru

(c) 4-Year Bachelor of Statistical Data Science (Hons) at Kolkata, Delhi, Bengaluru

Notes for Course (c)

a) This course will be taught in hybrid mode. The students will be physically present in each centre. The teacher will lecture in one of the centres with the other centres connected by video conferencing.

b) There is an exit option after three years with a Bachelor of Statistical Data Science degree. A student will be eligible for applying to the M.Stat. programme of the institute after completion of three years.

c) After the fourth year a student can receive a Bachelor of Statistical Data Science (Hons.) degree. This will make the graduate eligible for entry to programmes that require sixteen years of education.

d) There is an option to do fifth year to get an Integrated Master of Statistical Data Science degree.

Commerce / Humanities students also eligible: Worth noting that students from all subject streams are eligible for admission as long as they have successfully completed 10+2 years of Higher Secondary Education (or its equivalent) with Mathematics and English as subjects of study..

Stipend: Rs.5,000/- per month for courses (a) and (b) Plus another Rs.5,000/- per year as contingency grant. Stipends are granted in the first instance for one semester only. They are renewed periodically if the progress of the student is found satisfactory. Students leaving in the middle of a programme have to refund the stipend / contingency grant received, if any.

Special provision for INMO Awardees: There is a separate provision for applicants who have been selected as INMO AWARDEES to participate in the International Mathematics Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) in the years 2023 and 2024 based on their performance in the Indian National Mathematics Olympiad (INMO), conducted by the National Board of Higher Mathematics, Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.

Such candidates are also required to apply through the Application Portal.

There will be no Written Test, and the selection to these supernumerary seats will be based on interview.
